Today is My First Novel’s Birthday! Join Me for the Party!
Today is the second anniversary of the day my first novel was published.
The Path to Freedom was released on September 21, 2008 by Sapphire Blue Publishing which, at the time, was a spanky new epublishing house started by Tina Gerow and Maria Clayton.
I didn’t know a thing about publishing.
I was on a wild ride and enjoying every minute of it!
I love Sarah Stevens and her story but what made it a good read was the editors involved in polishing that stone up to a high shine. Tina Gerow did the first round of edits and taught me some amazing things about the craft of writing. Jan Walkosz did the second round of edits and taught me a great deal about myself. After Tina and Jan did the line edits, Darla Grant did the copy edits and taught me to look very carefully at how often I used some of my favorite words. These three ladies took my words and made them look good.
Then, Kendra Egert worked her graphic magic and my book had a cover. A real, true, smoking hot, oh-my-God-I’m-an-author-now cover. kendra has designed each subsequent cover for my Task Force 125 books since then. Whenever I open the email with the mock up, I go completely fangirl on her. You can’t learn talent like Kendra has.
Today is my first novel’s birthday and I’d like to celebrate!
Leave a comment and let me know if you’ve read it or not. A day like today calls for some swag so I’ll probably give away a few copies.
Thanks for sharing my special day!
