Task Force 125 Short Stories (Sarah’s Summer and Others)
A reader recently asked me about Sarah’s Summer and what it was.
Sarah’s Summer is a short that was my way of kicking back with the characters and letting them have a little fun between missions. Often times, writers will play with their characters a little. My characters seem to come to me fully-developed with their own personalities, quirks and faults included, so writing Sarah’s Summer was a way to explore that. I thought it might be a good way for people to get to know the characters a little better so I wanted to offer it to readers who might be interested. Unfortunately, the only way to offer it on Amazon.com was to charge the lowest possible price for it ($0.99). I tried that and readers flamed me for charging them money for it. I can’t really blame them. Prices are set today so that anybody can buy a full-length novel for $0.99 so why on earth would people want to buy a short piece that contains no plot, sex or body count?
So I made it available for download here on my website. It is available for free here: http://lisapietsch.com/task-force-125-books/tf1251/ or you can just click on the image above.
Writing little shorts like this help me get back into the right frame of mind for writing Task Force 125 stories.
Sometimes I get so engrossed in my own life and work that it is a difficult switch for me to make between that and the life of my characters. Oddly enough, it is a difficult switch because my life and Sarah’s life seem to run parallel so it’s like jumping into and out of a magic mirror. Sometimes I just don’t know which side I’m on.
I’d like to do more of these short between-mission mini-stories but I’m not sure how readers would receive them. If you download Sarah’s Summer and read it (or have already read it), please leave a comment below to let me know what you think about that idea.
As always…
Thanks for reading!

PS: I still have a total of 7 novellas planned for Sarah and the entire American Swift team but I’m currently working on a story just for Brian as he’s been getting a bit restless with living the easy life aboard the team’s yacht in Morocco.
I also have side stories planned for Tracey, Jason, Chris, Rig, and Will, but will get back to Sarah and the entire team after I release Brian’s story.
What/who would you like to see more of?
Hi Lisa! I’d love to see more character development, fill-in stories. Perhaps, if you did twor or three (or more!!!) you could bundle them together and sell them as a collection. Call it “Between the Pages” (or write a steamy one or two and call it “Between the Covers – nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
With your last couple of novels, the break in timeline between the stories was so brief that they didn’t have enough down time for us to wonder what they’d been up to, but I enjoyed Sarah’s Summer precisely because it gave us a sense of her having jelled with the rest of the team.
Thanks, Jane! I appreciate your honest input 🙂
Would love any additional stories about the team! I love how they all get along but little confused on where you are headed with Vince and his new life!
As with all the stories, the characters have dictated where they are going and how.
Vince is walking a fine line as a CIA operative who is living in the world of Russian organized crime. He’s finally got the type of partner he’s always wanted, but the picket fenced Victorian home in Idaho is worlds away.
