It’s day 3 on my attempt at the Advocare 24 Day Challenge!  I have to say I am really pleased with this program so far.  My diet and exercise really haven’t changed much at all, but it is amazing what kind of results you get with good quality supplements.  My darling companion had been trying to explain this to me for months.  I’m glad I finally gave in and gave Advocare, which I knew made some great quality stuff, a fair shot with the 24 Day Challenge.

I weighed in at 185, holding steady from yesterday, but my bodyfat measured in at 35%.  If I had just been tracking my weight, I’d have been pretty disappointed, but by tracking my bodyfat, I was given a hearty “GOOD MORNING!” by the bathroom scale I usually refer to as “That bitch”.

Let’s do the math.

My weight hasn’t changed, but by going from 38 to 35% bodyfat, I’ve actually lost 5.5lbs of F-A-T.  That would mean I’ve gained 5.5lbs of muscle.  If that’s so then there will be a difference in inches since I know that one pound of fat takes up a lot more space than one pound of muscle.  Yay, me!

How can this happen?  Let’s take a look:

Exercise: I haven’t been knocking myself out, but I have been exercising.  I worked up a pretty healthy sweat on that bike for 45 minutes.  That’s a workout anyone can do at home in front of the television too.

Rest: I dozed off around 10:30pm and then went to bed early.  I got eight hours of sleep even though I had to wake up early (7am).

Nutrition: I didn’t eat anything out of the ordinary.  In fact, I had a big dinner of 2 cups fresh spinach, ½ cup brown, long grain and wild rice blend, and 6oz of skirt steak.  Yeah, I was hungry and it filled me up!

Supplementation: The big difference here is the supplements.  I’m getting a ton of vitamins and amino acids from drinking Spark twice a day, plus I’m taking Catalyst, an amino acid supplement three times a day.  My darling companion has been telling me for months that I’m wasting my time with whey protein and should be taking amino acids instead.  I’m pretty much sold on those now!
