Hot Latinos: William Levy @willevy
In keeping with my Telenovela theme this week, I just started watching a new telenovela called Triunfo del Amor. It stars the delightfully photogenic Cubano, William Levy, and the bad guy is a very bad woman. I won’t spoil the story for you. If you want to check it out, it’s playing on TV now, and available from the first episode on Hulu and YouTube.
Enough about me. Let’s talk about that hot Latino, William Levy, shall we?
William Levy was born on August 29, 1980, in Cojimar, Cuba. He left Cuba at the age of 14, moving to Miami by 15, and later became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. He currently resides between Mexico City and Miami, FL. As an avid baseball fan when he was younger, he had dreams of playing major league baseball, but very soon had the opportunity to act and model, a career which has allowed him to travel to other countries to participate in runway shows and photo shoots. He studied acting in both Miami and L.A., where he moved to begin his acting career.
From the age of 22, this “hot, hot, hot cuban hunk”, as he was called in the gossip news when he was on “Dancing With The Stars”, began doing bit parts in Miami, for Univisión. One of these parts was a series on Telemundo about Hispanic teenagers growing up in the United States, Los Teens. He also began his modeling career, which led him to be hired in 2002 for two of the reality shows produced by Telemundo: Isla de la Tentación(Isle of Temptation) and Protagonistas de Novela 2(Soap Stars).
In 2003, while appearing in Protagonistas, Levy met Mexican-American actress Elizabeth Gutiérrez, and began an 8-year relationship with her. Their son, Christopher Alexander, was born in 2006, and their daughter, Kailey Alexandra, was born in 2010. In May of 2011, the couple announced the end of their relationship.
In 2005 he starred in a play performed in San Juan, Puerto Rico, called La Nena Tiene Tumbao (The Girl Has Moves). He then moved on to Spanish-language soaps on Univisión: Olvidarte Jamás (Forget You Never), Mi Vida Eres tú (You Are My Life) and Acorralada (Cornered).
Levy’s breakthrough Mexican soap operas on Televisa, were Pasión (2007) and Cuidado con el Ángel (Watch Out for the Angel) (2008), which first boadcast in June of 2008 in Mexico, and in the U.S. in September of that year. It is reported that this soap averaged 45.7 million viewers per evening.
From as early as 2006, People en Español had a special interest in Levy, whose name appeared on their list of “Los 20 solteros más sexys” (The 20 sexiest bachelors). For two years, 2008 and 2009, he was named by this magazine as one of “Los 50 más bellos” (the 50 best looking). In 2009, and again in 2011, he was listed as one of “Los 25 hombres más guapos” (The 25 handsomest men). Levy’s face appeared on their 15th Anniversary cover in 2011, where he’s called “El hombre más sexy” (The sexiest man).
Because of his very obvious sex appeal, there have been rumors that he was romantically involved with co-stars. The first was Maité Perroni (Cuidado con el Ángel), an affair that was denied by both actors. In 2010, he again co-starred with Maité in another soap called Triunfo del Amor (Triumph of Love), and these two actors also co-hosted the 25th Hispanic Heritage Awards gala on September 15, 2011. In 2011, Levy was reported to have played a role in the divorce of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, when he was her love interest in her music video “I’m Into You”, from her album “Love?” ~Bio Courtesy of WilliamLevy.net
