I had a friend once who had what I considered the luxury of taking each of his kids out for a “Date Night” every week.  I thought it was a great idea at the time but really didn’t have any cool options for things to do since my kids were so young.  Well, now that they’re potty trained, it’s a lot easier.  This blog about a night out with Teddy (now 11) is from a couple years ago but just never got posted.  It was less of a date night and more of a kid’s night for him since he got to hang with kids his own age, but for a homeschooled kid, that’s quite a night out.

Here’s the blog:

Teddy has been dying to climb the rock wall since we joined the YMCA last week but it is only open from 4-8pm. The same goes for the big kids’ club where they can play pool & Wii games with other kids from ages 7-12.

Our solution, Teddy’s Night Out.

I took Teddy out to the Y last night where he climbed 3 areas (of 4) on the rock wall and then spent two hours hanging out in the big kids’ club. He played some pool and a little Wii and had a great night while I worked at a table in the lobby.
