Author Interview & Giveaway with Suz DeMello http://wp.me/p4hGmz-20ISuz DeMello

My guest author today is Suz deMello, author of a wide array of very grown up and hot books!  Don’t believe me?  Check out her website here.  If you like it hot, be sure to subscribe to her blog here.  Be sure to add her to your Twitter list of authors too!

Today, Suz is promoting Six Steamy Shorties: Sexy Short Romances so be sure to leave a comment for her below about something you have in common so you can be entered to win an ebook (and she may just throw in some candy too).

Without further ado, let’s dig deep and see what Suz is all about, shall we?

Lisa: What genre do you write and why?

Suz: I write all over the map: romance, mystery, thriller, nonfiction, including a writing manual and a memoir. I’m sure that the lack of focus has impacted my career, but what the heck? Life’s too short to live in boxes. Self-imposed limitations are possibly worse than external ones.

Lisa: I love that!  Hopefully other readers will too and tweet it out.

Author Interview & Giveaway with Suz DeMello http://wp.me/p4hGmz-20ILisa: If you write romance, what subgenres do you write in? Why?

Suz: I’ve written everything from sweet romance to sizzling hot erotica. I’ve written historical, contemporary and futuristic. I’ve written suspense, mystery, paranormal, including vampire, and sometimes mashups of several genres. I’ve written a futuristic action-adventure with a mystery or two wrapped up in it. I’ve written historical vampire erotic romance and contemporary paranormal thrillers.

Why, you ask? Because it’s fun.

Lisa: Are you aware of any themes that run through your stories? If so, what are they?

Suz: I tend to write stories that revolve around a woman finding and manifesting her personal power.

Lisa: I love that theme!  What better way to relax than with a great story that makes us feel even more empowered?  What would you like readers to take away from your stories?

Suz: I want them to feel empowered and happy…and eager to read another book by Suz deMello!

Lisa: Do you have any other passions besides writing? If yes, what are they? Why?

Suz: I love to travel and experience other cultures, for as long as possible. I lived for a year in Asia, mostly in China, when I taught English to toddlers. I’ve spent substantial time in Thailand and Europe as well.

Lisa: What is your best memory?

Suz: My best memory….Wow, that’s a tough one. I’m a lucky person and I’ve had a wonderful life. Here’s one: I had a great relationship with a (now) ex-boyfriend, who went well out of his way to make this last Valentine’s Day memorable. Without going into the x-rated details, let’s just say that the marathon lovemaking was out of this world fabulous, and then he prepared me a delicious dinner.

Here’s another: one day in Krabi, Thailand, I went kayaking through a mangrove forest, where monkeys climbed into the boats and begged for snacks; I explored sea caves and went snorkeling on a coral reef. Great fun!

Lisa: You know you’ve grown when you can think of the happy memories with exes.  What is your favorite comfort food?

Suz: Red wine and dark chocolate, with walnuts and a good cheese.

Lisa: Decadent, yet healthy!  Wise choices.  What relaxes you?

Suz: See above—about the comfort food. I also do yoga daily. I enjoy the ocean and find walking on beaches very calming.

Lisa: What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

Suz: I’m watching episodes of the first version of the Star Trek series on Netflix 🙂

Lisa: I grew up on reruns of the original Star Trek since my mom was a Trekkie.  I love it all, up to and including the new reboot.  What decade has been your favorite? Why?

Suz: Right now! This decade has been a period of growth and expansion for me. I’m not where I want to be as a person, but I have learned a lot in the last four years and continue to improve, I hope.

Lisa: Me too – always be growing!  What was your favorite vacation?

Suz: My favorite vacation—wow, you ask hard questions! For my birthday in 2015, I went to Havana to research a story. Not exactly a vacation, but fascinating! One Hot Havana Night, which is in Six Steamy Shorties, came out of that trip.

Also, I went on a yoga retreat in Puerto Vallarta last year and absolutely loved it. It was in a luxurious villa on a beach south of PV and it was marvelous. Everyone I met was lovely, the location was beautiful and I learned a lot while relaxing completely.

In 2006, I left the country for six months and spent substantial time in Europe, including London, Oxford and Italy. I love exploring old sections of the cities, especially finding sites where bits of the Harry Potter movies were filmed in England. Bliss!

Lisa: Every one of those sounds dreamy in it’s own way.  Wow!  If you had another career, what was it?

Suz: I practiced as a trial attorney for twenty years and loathed it. I also taught English as a second language, and often wish I could return to that. Alas, not in the cards for me.

Lisa: That’s diversity!  If you could have one wish, what would it be?

Suz: Perfect freedom.

Lisa: I’ve always felt writing was the fastest way to freedom (thus the title of my first book).  If you could describe yourself in only one word, what would it be?

Suz: Evolving.

Lisa: That sounds so much more zen than my “Undeniable”, but I’m more of a bull in a china shop kind of gal anyway.  Are you a cat or dog person? Do you have any pets and if so, please tell us about them.

Suz: Both! I love animals, which is why I don’t eat them. I have a little toy poodle mix, Jacques Cousteau, who I absolutely adore. He’s always sweet and playful, and reminds me to be the same.

Lisa: I love that name!  What is the one thing you most want to do that you haven’t yet?

Suz: Live within walking distance of a great beach!

Lisa: That would be heaven!  Please tell us about your most recent release and where we can purchase it.

Suz: I’m releasing my Highland Vampires series over the next few months, and a complete list of the books and stories can be found here:
