In Search of Consistency

Before I start this particular blog, I should mention that I love my darling companion dearly and I know he feels the same about me – at least that’s what he keeps telling me in word and deed.  That being said –

My boyfriend hates people like me.

Because I’m a fast gainer.  I can walk into a gym, pick up a weight, any weight, just as long as it’s a weight, and the next day I’ll have discernible muscle.  I make muscle gains quickly and easily and I’m in my late 40s.  It’s a gift.  (I can also gain fat quickly and easily, so it’s a bit of a double-edged sword.)

Gaining muscle easily is a great trait to have if you can get yourself to show up to lift that weight.

But I hate people like my boyfriend.

Because he’s got consistency.  He’s shown up to the gym for his scheduled workouts every day since he was 15.  (I should mention here that he’s in his mid 50s now.)  consistency, advocare, 24dc, 24 day challenge, potato chips, lisa pietschHe’s got an amazing physique in spite of the fact he eats potato chips with his dinner every night.

No, really.

Every night.

Potato chips.

I hate that.

Since I started the 24 Day Challenge, he’s been taking Advocare supplements too.

Spark has been a great pre-workout drink for him.  He notices less fatigue and more energy to push through to personal bests.

Catalyst (the amino acids) are kicking ass where our previous WalMart brand didn’t and his abs are really coming in.

He’s also been taking Nighttime Recovery and noticing less soreness the day after a hard workout.

As for me, well, my abs seem to be coming in too.  (You may recall I mentioned previously, I’ve lost significant inches.)  Since I started lifting weights this week, I’m noticing out of the ordinary muscle gains.

I should mention here that my goal is not to become square and bulky – women can only do that if they’re taking steroids and that just isn’t me.  My purpose in resistance training is to tighten up everything I have and create a more hourglass shape that only jiggles in the right places.

This is only my second day lifting, but I’m like Popeye now – “POW!” and there’s a muscle.  So why take supplements if I can build muscle easily?  I know the Advocare supplements are supercharging me and making everything run more efficiently.  nap, energy, spark, advocare, lisa pietschI have more energy and less of that little voice telling me to skip a workout and take a nap instead.  I’ve found I could pick right back up at the weights I was lifting when I stopped resistance training months ago, instead of starting at lower weights.  Advocare has upped my game in a big way and, let’s face it, at 47, I really don’t have a lot of time to spare in tightening up these spare tires!

People who have battled with weight issues know that if we don’t see improvements that motivate us, we’ll peter out quickly.  We need to see results every day or we’ll lose that spark of motivation, that drive to continue improving.  These Advocare products have shown me some serious improvement and that motivates me.

When I’m motivated, I’m consistent.

When I’m consistent, I’m amazing.

We all are.

How do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time.

How do we transform our body?  One inch at a time.

I have 2 days left on this 24 Day Challenge.  I’ll post my results on Sunday and, on Monday, my rag-tag transformation gang and I will start another 24 day cycle of consistent improvement.  Are you ready to join us?
